Our warehouses & distribution, Winchester, VA, USA.
Located in Winchester, Virginia, and incorporated in Delaware, Hurford Hardwoods USA is a premier North American lumber and flooring wolesaler with a history of near 40 years in the American market. Building on our long term presence in Winchester, Virginia, we continue to distribute flooring and lumber nationally, globally, and to the entire East Coast and Canada. Currently we are situated at Winchester's Kernstown Industrial Estate while our Portland branch serves the West Coast.
Creator of Outback Flooring, Hurford Hardwoods is an Innovator with a Global Outlook: Based in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Hurford Hardwoods USA, sources and distributes wood products all over the world including the United States, Asia, Latin America, New Zealand, and Australia. We also control every phase of many of our wood products - sourcing, milling and finishing them in our own facilities internationally and in Virginia. At our Winchester, Virginia, operation we have drying kilns for our lumber, manufacturing for some of our other products, and we are linked to our distribution facilities in Lodi, California and Portland, Oregon.

In Virginia, we are conveniently located within the greater Washington D.C. and greater Northern Virginia areas, and a mere stone's throw from two of the ports through which we import and export: Baltimore and Virginia Inland Port. We also import and export through several other major ports throughout the United States.

The Virginia Team

The Vice President of the U.S.A. operation, Shayne Lachlan, has a total of over forty years with the company in the USA and overseas, and has led the USA division since 1998. Originally  from Australia, he was sent to the Winchester Virginia branch to head up and grow the North American lumber and flooring operation.

Account Manager, Liz Miller-Sisk, a Virginian born and bred, has also been with Hurford Hardwoods USA since 2001. Liz has made her home in Winchester with her family. She has watched the Virginia USA division ride the ups (and downs) of the lumber and flooring industry, and grow.

Our Story

Picture

Originally from Australia and established in the USA in 1987, during its early years here in Virginia and on the West Coast, Hurford Hardwoods USA was then known as Moxon Timbers USA. The former entity started small and set about becoming a reliable source of exotic and domestic lumber and flooring in the USA market.

While never forgetting domestic American favorites like white oak and maple, we are proud to have been the first company to introduce Australian Cypress into the U.S. market in the 1980s and to have been market leaders by bringing other exotic species of flooring and lumber into the U.S.
We have sustained and expanded during numerous industry cycles in several countries, including during the tough business times of the post-2008 economic meltdown in the United States. We pride ourselves on the quiet achievement of growing through diversification at that time, when other lumber and flooring companies were going to the wall and the USA and the rest of the world were staggering under the effects of the global financial crisis in 2008.

It can truly be said that the USA division owes its existence to the determination, energy and integrity of the people at the Winchester headquarters who keep its U.S. divisions moving forward.

Now we are in several countries overseas, several locations in the U.S., we continue to expand our lumber and flooring product lines, and we are delighted to have become Hurfords Hardwoods USA, part of a leading Australian lumber and flooring company.

Environmental Commitment

Hurford Hardwoods USA is a member of several industry organizations, including the International Wood Products Association, the Wood Products Manufacturing Association, and the National Wood Flooring Association. We are genuinely committed to responsibly maintaining accepted industry standards and environmental sustainability standards in the markets in which we participate.

For example, our Australian Cypress is Australian Forestry Standard accredited, milled from sustainably eco-managed forests.
