French Oak species (sp. Quercus Robur): Grows in a comparatively small number of forests in France. It is used in wine making and for architectural purposes such as flooring.
French Oak Wood: It has a calm appearance due to its even grain with relatively few knots. It also has occasional "cat's paw" figuration in the grain. The naturally high level of innate tannins in French Oak assist in the adhesion of stains and varnishes. Its Janka hardness rating is 1360.
